Pinterest.  A place of inspiration, ideas and beauty.  Also that place where we pin those ideas we love and don’t want to forget.  You are invited to Pin-along with us every Saturday.  It’s a party so bring something to share.  Don’t just pin it, make it, bake it, do it and then share it.

This week, I have been working on quilts for the girls new room.  We have painted away the chocolate brown wall and are getting the room together but the room needed some quilts.  I have been saving these vintage bed sheets for a very long time, some I have had longer than I have had most of my children.  I was saving them for dresses or something else like shopping bags but it seems they were meant for this.  I have the tops of the 3 quilts done and now I just need to add the batting and back and then square it all up and add the binding (my least favorite part).  The girls are so excited and I really am too.  I love quilting with vintage fabrics, they are so soft to touch.

Once I had cut all the squares and sewn them into strips, the hardest and also most fun part of the job was lining up the strips to make three tops without having any of the same fabric squares touching.  We laid them out in our family room and even the little ones helped us find the strips that were repeating and needed to be moved.  It took about an hour and honestly, after a little while all the squares started looking alike but we got it done.  I love projects when even the little ones can jump in to help.

I hope to have it all done in another day which would be day number 3 of working on these quilts.  The last step right now before putting on the back is signing the quilt.  I always embroider a message into a corner of every quilt I make.  These quilts aren’t perfect.  They are full of mistakes but they are also full of love too and that will keep my girls warm 🙂

So what did you make this week?

Here’s what to do.

1.  Pick a pin you have pinned from your Pinterest boards and do it.

2. Take a picture of your project or progress and blog about it or post a picture to flickr.

3. Then come back here on Saturdays and post a link to your blog post (please make sure the link you post is to your Pin-along post and not your main blog)

4. Don’t forget to link back to the Pin-along  so others can find us and get encouraged too.

5.  We all love comments and encouragement so please leave a comment here and visit at least 1 other pinner and leave them a comment  too 🙂
Fair enough?

Below is the link up tool.  Let me know if you need help!

I am in LOVE with those quilts. What beautiful fabrics. It's the type of thing I wish I could find at a reasonable price, as alas, I have no time to learn how to quilt. 🙁

thank you Alexandra! I hope someday you find the time to learn, even if you do imperfect work like I do, it's still worth it and your family will love it.

Those are going to look so pretty! I can't wait to see the finished products. I don't have anything this week, but hope to next week. Although, it's turning out to be more complicated than I thought! We'll see.

Hi Trisha! I don't have a blog but I did make the lemon brownies that Leila posted on her Like Mother Like Daughter blog. I believe she pinned it on her pinterest board. I also made heart garland for St valentines day. Love your blog!

Confession… it was the third time I made those lemon brownies. The pinterest challenge was the only reason I made them. wink wink 😉

I love the open floor space so you can lay out your work in progress. I am working on a quilt, too, but my rooms are not quite big enough for it, so it's sort of like a puzzle!

Sonrie, been there and done that haha. It all comes out great anyway in the end doesn't it? Big floor = more to sweep and mop

Do you hand quilt, machine quilt, or tie quilts? Binding them is my least favorite as well.

Katie, I machine quilt! I need these quilts on beds this week haha. Plus, I have no patience and love projects with instant satisfaction. That is why have baby afghans waiting for years to be finished for babies who are now 12 😉
