With the cold weather outside and the past few days being way too cold to venture out for too long, the kids are going a bit stir crazy.  I have run out of ways to ask them to use inside voices or to remind them that we do not live in a barn.  There have been a few times in the past few days when I have turned a corner only to almost be run over by a child coming full speed past me.  What can I expect from them?  They are used to being outside most everyday of the year and this winter has been a bit long for them.

This week though, one of them has been having a bit of fun with me 🙂  I’m not sure who it is yet but it seems almost everytime I walk into the kitchen I encounter a little friend of theirs.  I see him while getting things from the pantry, inside jars of nuts and even in the veggie scraps that I turn my back on for only a minute.  I really like this house mouse.  He is getting a big laugh out of me.

This morning, tired as I am,  I opened the refrigerator to find him nibbling on an apple which gives me an idea of who my fun maker is since only the girls were awake much to my surprise since I thought they would be pretty tired too.  Yesterday, I spent the day with 4 bubbly girls (2 of mine and 2 friends) and I am pretty wiped out 🙂  Three of our girls have birthdays within 10 of each other.  Livie’s birthday was the 31st of January, followed by Veronica the very next day on the 1st and yesterday was the culmination of birthday row with Erica.  In our family, you get 8 birthday parties growing up.  The first 6 are from ages 1 to 6, then you get a party on your 15th birthday and on your 18th.  If you are any other age, you get to pick a friend and I or Poppa will take the birthday people and their entourage shopping and to eat and sometimes to do a fun activity.  Olivia has not had her 5th birthday party yet because it is too cold out and she wants an outdoor party.  Yesterday was spent with Erica and Ronnie, shopping, eating and oh…giggling.  I don’t recall ever being a giggly girl so I don’t cope very well with a bunch of girls when they get together.  Honestly, I packed the essential oils should I get a headache but they were actually delightful and I had a really great time watching my daughters develop new friendships but I must admit that they wiped me out 🙂

Do your kids ever play little pranks on you?  I can’t wait to see where else this little fella shows up next.

Sunshine thought this was the cutest thing and wished we had a mouse friend to hide. I have to admit I agree with her 100% 🙂

How sweet! We have a similar little 'visitor' who makes appearances here & there in odd places in our house (mostly in the kitchen)…a little wooden gnome that our eldest son carved several years back. 🙂 These near & below zero temperatures do make it hard for the children to spend much time outside. Right now, a few are bundled up out there with spray bottles full of colored water, decorating the snow.

love that idea!!! I need to get some spray bottles but sadly, Poppa drove my van into the ditch last night and its too icy to get it out right now 🙁

Oh, goodness…how adorable!!! This post put a big smile on my face.
My kids have had fun with a little plastic spider (it looks very real, in my opinion), putting it in places they know would scare me…including my shoulder. I much prefer your sweet little mouse. 😉

How fun…what a cute little fellow to encounter. If he were real, the poor thing would have been LONG gone if in my house. Mice are one thing I am deathly afraid of, and I have no idea why.

oh me too Sharon. One time in m first house (which was a hundred years old and I was only 21) I found one in a closet and having to defend my house and not have my poppa around t get it I had to take matters into my own hands and sucked the little thing up into my shop vac. Which then waited until my dad could come over and get rid of it for me.
