Stash Bash – New chicken tractor

I’ve never met a crafter without a stash of some kind. This year my goal is to use up all the craft supplies I have spent money on that are taking up mental and physical space in my life.

What to do, what to do?  The boys and I hunkered down and thought of a Joel Salatin style chicken tractor so they could still get all the grass pecking and scratching action that they love but not have access to reckovate all of my work.  We have also lost many a chicken this year during daylight hours to stray dogs, hawks and even a great big owl.  This will help in keeping our flock safe during day and at night we put them back into their coop.

We had lots of wood left over from building the barn wall for the wedding and even though it would have been lots lighter if we used 2×2’s, the 2×4’s we already own did the job just fine.  The only thing we had to purchase was the green roofing which was only $15.  We tend to save materials that we can use for other things around here and it really does come in handy.

This is the first project we have done (besides building raised beds) without any help from men folk.  This tractor was built all momma and sons mind and muscle!!

I have been romancing many a seed catalog lately and now have dozens and dozens of seeds to plant.  Most are new to me and so exciting!!

I have received a few requests for gardening and farming posts as I know many of you are still seeing white out there.  This Saturday I will begin posting regular farm and garden updates.  They help me also to keep track of what is being done and is fun to go back and see next season.

So what have you been up to? I love to see what you come up with. I have added the Mr Linky to the bottom of this post for you to link up your Stash Bash projects.
Here’s what to do. There are no rules.
Just use what you have and try to not buy new supplies, unless you need it to complete a project that you are making from stuff you already have in your stash.

Design of this chicken cage is really nice looking. It will save them from rain and sunny environment as well.
