Pinafores for a Pin-along

Last night during our Friday night movie night, I began to feel cold.  Not the kind of cold that goes away from a nice warm room or blanket.  No, the kind of cold that makes you want to go to bed.  In the middle of the night, my throat started to ache and one of my ears is following suit.  I am really not feeling well. This morning, I handed Matthew to one of the girls and gave myself permission to go back to bed.

The problem with that one, is that I must have really needed it and just woke up to realize that I never uploaded my pinalong post.  Alarming yes, but there has not really been all that much fuss or fanfare over it to begin with so, here it is.  It is super late in the morning and if by some off chance you were waiting to linkup, I am really sorry but something tells me that is not the case 🙂  Tis OK.

This week, I tried to summon spring by making one of my favorite dresses for the girls.  I have made dozens of these over the past 6 years when Alexandra first showed me a picture of one and asked “momma, you can make this for me right?”  And, yes I can.  It is a very simple construction.  Basically, the skirt is a tube with a hem on one end and gathering on the other.  I measure the hips and then times it by 4 and that is how much fabric goes into the skirt.  Then measure the waist so that it will be perfectly snug and decide how wide you want it and double that.  Fold over the waist and pin in place over the gathered top of the edge.  Make straps the length you want and sew them in place.  There is a bit more to it but that would give you enough of an idea to take off with it.  I hope 🙂

Here’s what to do.

1.  Pick a pin you have pinned from your Pinterest boards and do it.

2. Take a picture of your project or progress and blog about it or post a picture to flickr.

3. Then come back here on Saturdays and post a link to your blog post (please make sure the link you post is to your Pin-along post and not your main blog)

4. Don’t forget to link back to the Pin-along  so others can find us and get encouraged too.

5.  We all love comments and encouragement so please leave a comment here and visit at least 1 other pinner and leave them a comment  too :)
Fair enough?

Below is the link up tool.  Let me know if you need help!

You are invited to a Pin-along party.  Bring along all your Pinterest ideas and pinned projects and make them a reality.  Don’t just pin it, Make it, Bake it, Do it and then Share it!

I have no idea how to set up the Pinalong…. Last week while grandbaby sitting I crocheted a hat and scarf for her and finished the matching stroller blanket. The yarn is a poly. I am not fond of polyester however it is very soft and washable. Lavender and mint green variegated.
Blessings to you and the family. Praying your well soon.
I have made my share of these sweet skirts. The rickrack is a nice touch.

Oh my goodness, I love it! I'm wondering if I could do an elastic waist and avoid the zipper…

Leah, I wonder too, you are the third person who has asked me that same question. Really the zipper is not all that scary or you could do buttons to close. If you are scared of making button holes, you could use a loop to hold around the button 😉

I would love to see this on one of your sweet daughters 🙂 What type of shirt would you pair with it?

    • farmishmomma March 3, 2014 at 2:32 am #

we usually go with a very simple long sleeved white thsirt fabric shirt or a suit shirt 🙂 I missed you Katie!

I rarely use Pinterest for crafting but rather for our homeschooling organization. We just purchased an Apple TV to turn our learning apps on the big screen. We'll our Pinterest find was a really catchy song on all the countries of the world which then followed an impromptu Frozen singalong. Once I get linked onto YouTube my eyes gravitate toward other videos…always! Now I'm just glad I can share them with our children under my watchful eyes.

I did not make anything of Pinterest, but this morning I made a recipe out of one of my favorite cookbooks, _A Continual Feast_. The recipe makes 3 coffeecakes, so I have enough for the next three Sundays!

Yippee!! Millie, coffee cake sounds good right now. I think I'm getting my appetite back 😉

Millie: I have been enjoying A Continual Feast for several years, it is a wonderful cookbook to help celebrate the Liturgical Year!

I hope you feel better soon! I love this dress! You've inspired me and I'm going to add it to my list of projects.

My youngest has been sick this week. No crafting here. I did unravel a poorly made hat and hope to start a tea cozy tonight or tomorrow. I love the dress!! Both my girls would love this. I'll add it to my "sewing" board.

Praying you are well soon! Drink some bone broth to hydrate. For ear aches, we simmer freshly, sliced garlic in olive oil, let it cool (still warm, but not hot), & place a few drops in the affected ear(s)…it works…& you smell delicious. 😉 Take care & get some rest!

Last week I was out of town but still used an idea from pinterest when we visited a children's museum. We were in a craft room when I spotted coffee filters. I remembered reading a pinterest post on making flowers with the filters. So, me and my kids made them. I ended up giving a demo to the other children in the room! There were a bunch of happy kids.

This morning I made a recipe for baked oatmeal from pinterest. It was delicious!

This is so much fun! Thanks for motivating all of us to get up and do something new and different!
