I have a big soft spot for anything handmade.  To me it is special, it has a life that someone gave it by the work of their hands.  Yesterday, I was in need of some wool sweaters to repurpose so I ducked into my favorite thrift store and found two treasures.  Both old, both handmade and I felt the need to adopt them.  This is always the case, if it is affordable.

I was walking around and saw a bit of red, white and green.  Something looking quilted and to my surprise I pulled out a kids sized quilt, hand quilted no less.  I closed my eyes as I pulled out the price tag… $12.  Adopted!!  I also found these sweet little cross stitched (actually this craft may be called something else) set of Angels.  They seem like little child sized oven mits and have the year 1931 embroidered into the back.  I might now use them as oven mitts since they are so sweet.  Right now, they are living on a windowsill in the living room.

As soon as I brought the quilt home though, I immediately thought of a dilemna.  Which of my girls should get it,  should I just put it in Mateo’s bed?  The decision was made as soon as Livie pulled it out of the bag and exclaimed “I have always wanted a Christmas quilt, since I was a little girl”  This made me laugh since she is only 4 ya know.  Yes, Livie, this is YOUR Christmas quilt.

This reminded me of that bag of already cut Christmas fabric strips I have in a moving box somewhere.  A promise to complete them as quilts for Erica and Veronica was enough impulse for them to actually find that box and bring me the fabric strips.  Add two quilts to my list of Christmas projects 🙂  Busy is an understatement for my right now but I am taking it all instride.  After all, someday all too soon, there may not be sweet little girls dreaming of momma made quilts.  The pressure is not so bad since we don’t even decorate for Christmas until Christmas week and our house stays Christmas-y until The Presentation which is February 2nd I think, so no rush.

I packaged and mailed out a dozen orders this morning and am still taking orders for Lego Rosaries until Sunday night, wink wink.  If you would like to put one of them in your little one’s stocking, email me at farmishmomma@gmail.com or just click on the contact me link at the top of this page.

Don’t forget to enter the Lego rosary giveaway.  I will post the winner at the original post tonight after midnight so don’t delay.
