the little loomhouse aka a fiber lovers paradise in the woods

So I didn’t make it to the county fair 🙁  too much to see and not enough time!  I have a good excuse, I promise.  I found a little piece of paradise and I’m so very glad to have gotten to spend some time there today.  It’s called the Little Loomhouse.  A small village of 3 historical cabins operated by volunteer women who wish to pass on their love for fiber arts.  It is a magical little piece of historical land.  Every cabin, jam packed with the most amazing treasures.  Looms, spinning wheels, wool, spindles, oh you name it and its there.  I have never seen a place with so many of the above, most of which are vintage or antique and have been donated by many people over the years and the best part is most of it is for sale.  Magical I tell ya.

I drove up this morning and got out of the car with Matthew.  Feeling a bit small among the cabins perched atop some steep hills, I called the office on my cell phone, Stephanie answered.  Out came a beautiful woman (Stephanie) and she spent about 2 hours with me just showing me around.  A kindred spirit, we talked and laughed and met the other women who volunteer at the Little Loomhouse.  Oh what a great time.  If you are ever in the Louisville area, you should go and visit.  Take your restraint or bring a big van to cart home your treasures in!!

I hope to visit again with Stephanie and the wonderful women of the Loomhouse very, very soon!

oh and I was very drawn to this picture.  Isn’t this woman beautiful???  Well, she is still here and still sharing her love of fiber and I have it on good word that she is still just as beautiful.  I hope to meet her on my next visit.

Thank you Farmish Momma, for your recognition of the Little Loomhouse in your blog and for sharing it with us. I am so glad you had a great time there. I look forward to meeting you when you are back in Louisville. Your photos are beautiful and do a great job of showcasing some of what’s available to our visitors. Please let me know when you are in town so that we might meet. I am a volunteer, an instructor of weaving, spinning and soap making, as well as a member of the board of directors at the Little Loomhouse and would welcome the opportunity.
