Stash Bash

I’ve never met a crafter without a stash of some kind. This year my goal is to use up all the craft supplies I have spent money on that are taking up mental and physical space in my life.  Join me here every Thursday for a Stash Bash.

I am still working on the sewing room/playroom.  Even though it looks worse than last week I know that it is just the darkest before the dawn.  I now have all of my sewing and cutting tables moved all to one wall which is my area and I am thinking of ways to maximize on my space so that I have enough room to make a play corner for the little ones and a beautiful studying area on the other side.  I still have alot of stash to go through and purge but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel (sorry for using two cliche statements in one paragraph).

I am still plugging away at finishing the vintage rag rug for the new nursery.  I have added 4 rows to it and even though it looks good to me, the fabrics feel very different.  The original fabric, because it is over 50-60 years old) is much softer than the new strips I am adding.  The original rug is also made of feed sack fabrics which are a looser weave but I remind myself to let go of the need for perfection and get it done.  The kids keep reminding me that it will be on the floor so no one will feel the difference.

I think it will be done by tomorrow night and then I will move onto the dozens of other baby projects I would love to get done.  I see myself making many more of these rugs.  They are a great use of scraps of fabric and those fabrics that you are not so crazy about in your stash because once you tear the fabric into strips and crochet it up, you don’t really see the original design, only the color.  I think after all this purging I will have a much better grip on what I own and get to use more of it…very exciting for me.

So what have you been up to? I love to see what you come up with. I have added the Mr Linky to the bottom of this post for you to link up your Stash Bash projects.

Here’s what to do. There are no rules.
Just use what you have and try to not buy new supplies, unless you need it to complete a project that you are making from stuff you already have in your stash.
Take a picture of your project or progress and blog about it or post a picture to flickr.
Then come back here on Thursdays and post a link to your post.
Don’t forget to link back to the Stash Bash so others can find us and get encouraged too.
Fair enough?

P.S.  Its so nice to hear from other stash bashers so if you visit some of the links don’t forget to leave them a quick little comment.
