Keepin it real

A dear bloggy friend of mine yesterday blogged about how other bloggers seemed to be able to do so much more than she ever could(believe me, its not true, she is an amazing momma)while keeping everything in life organized and all the to do’s done. After reflecting on my own blog, I have decided to periodically just pick a room and take a picture of the reality. No straightening or picking up to make it look better, just brutal honesty. The brutal truth is that even though I do get alot of projects done, the ones that don’t get done are so much larger. Behind every pretty picture of a finished project or recipe is a pile of laundry waiting to be washed or folded and a sink full of dishes. I wish for this blog to be a place of refreshment and inspiration, not a place where others will ever feel less that what they truly are.

So here it is. I walked into the livingroom and yikes, Poppa may kill me for posting this : ) I snapped a picture because I really care about my bloggy friend as well as every other reader who visits this blog regularly. You all make this blog possible and you inspire me to share and write about my little life.

Yeah, you guessed it, this is probably why that pile has not been folded but honestly, there is always a pile there because we do 3 loads of laundry a day everyday but Sunday and on laundry day it goes all day!

I am adding a linky link in case you want to keep it real with me.  Feel free to take a picture of your reality and post it to your own blog or flickr then post a link here.  I am thinking of making this a regular thing, maybe on Tuesdays, whadda ya think?

Tricia, I'm glad you're doing this too…I was feeling embarrassed just taking the pictures, but I'll suck it up for a friend. Humble pie is good for the soul 🙂 Besides, I have a good friend who keeps telling me how clean my house is and I keep trying to tell her it really isn't…maybe she'll believe me now.

Awesome! I'm all about keeping it real in blog land. Can't join in this time. We are in the process of rearranging, so even though it's still messy, it's really not that bad. I'm organizing and purging the tiny clutter…which I'll take pics of tomorrow. That's going to be keeping it really real.

I share my "Keeping it Real" posts on a irregular basis. I hope the posts help others as much as they help me. It's also a wonderful practice of humility and gratitude. Thanks be to God for our daily messes and the little hands that help create them.Ad Jesum per Mariam,Lena

I always say, when a mom excels in one area, they lack in another, so everyone is on the same plane and doesn't know it. I do a lot of blogging, sewing, and healthy eating, but my house is a wreck. I love & admire the wonderful things my friends excel at (one is great with doing kid crafts with her children, one keeps a perfect home, one loves to cook exotic dishes), but it doesn't bother me, because I have my own strengths.Your living room looks great (a little better than mine, lol) :)! Keep on keeping it real!

Amy, The ivory yarn is a cowl I am knitting and the grey is a pair of longies for Livie to wear tomorrow but she gained weight and I had to rip out the legs after I took that picture so now I have been crocheting every minute that I have free today. Can't wait to see your reality.

I must admit to reading blogs (I read a lot by crafy mamas) and thinking "Wow, how does she do it?!" however I'm not posting a picture of my house as we've had a busy to day and every plate in the kitchen needs washed and the livingroom still needs decluttered (Especially my knitting corner!) Haha!

Weekly? If I want to be "real" I will post daily….You should see my laundry pile up right now. I couldn't do laundry for a few days…my hubby was fixing the baseboard behind the washer…I understand how the other reader feels. But..it's always going to be there. The crafting at least is a reprieve from the inevitable!

Love it, Tricia! I still think you are superwoman for doing all you do, but it least you are a "real" superwoman/mom!

Love the concept of this post! You should make it a weekly thing…although I don't know if I have enough guts to contribute pictures of my messy apartment (at least not yet).
