Pioneer Day

What a great time we had at Pioneer Day.  The weather was cool but not too cold, just cold enough to bring out the wool sweaters : )

I was able to finish Livie’s longies (again) and making the thighs wider worked like a charm.  It took every second of spare time yesterday to rip out the legs and redo them in time but I am so glad that I was able to finish them because she was nice and toasty the entire day.

making peg dolls

 playing with buttons and string

 toys of yesteryear

by the time it was time to leave, he could walk around the park without falling

wooley buns

 making rope

 making hand dipped beeswax candles

 they smell so wonderful

we have decided to use our candles for our dinner table

I was no good at archery, now looking at it, my elbow is way too high

two man saw…to think houses were built this way

Livie was in love with this calf

I could have parked myself at this spinning wheel for a few hours

this man taught me how to make scrub brushes from palmetto wood

Livie getting a little play time in while we wait for the shuttle to take us back to our car

I second that WOW! Looks like a fun and educational day. I wish we had Pioneer Day near here. That palmetto brush and the candle dipping looks like something I would like to do (and my kids too, of course!) 🙂
