Stash Bash

I’ve never met a crafter without a stash of some kind. This year my goal is to use up all the craft supplies I have spent money on that are taking up mental and physical space in my life.  Join me here every Thursday for a Stash Bash.

I was trying to upload pics of my project today and got a message that I have exceeded my picture limit????  I have no idea what the heck to do about that since I am planning to move this blog to WordPress or stay here at Blogger and just do some renovations.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I am posting this without pics while I try to figure it out.  I am paying the monthly fee now until I decide what to do.  I tried resizing my pictures before adding them and that did not work.  I also tried uploading them to Flickr and then uploading the url and that did not work.  I am so terrible at this computer stuff : (

Today I am sharing with you a little project from a much bigger project that I am working on this week and will share with you on Monday.  Won’t you come back on Monday to see it?

Our ironing board cover has seen better days.  I have skipped around this project because that is what I do.  I skip around projects and avoid them until the inspiration bites me in the bottom and then I get to work.

Yesterday as I was finishing my big project, there it was, staring at me, saying “hello, I need some attention!”  Yes, yes you do!  I went to my sewing room and grabbed some Alexander Henry, Farmdale Crossing fabric (yes, I use this fabric for everything lately) and drew out a pattern by laying the ironing board right on top of the fabric and drawing around.

Staying true to my quest for Stash Bashing, I decided to use some felted wool underneath for the padding and I used some elastic I rescued from an old bottom sheet that was no longer useful.  I really should make some beeswax polish to give it a nice wax but that will have to wait until I get the rest of my project finished and hopefully I won’t skip around it too long.

My ironing board needs some new screws and one of the slats on the side needs to be remade but I love it so I keep finding ways to make it work.  It also becomes a stepping stool as well as a chair depending on how you fold it.

So what have you been up to? I love to see what you come up with. I have added the Mr Linky to the bottom of this post for you to link up your Stash Bash projects.

Here’s what to do. There are no rules.
Just use what you have and try to not buy new supplies, unless you need it to complete a project that you are making from stuff you already have in your stash.

Her wedding day

These pictures are so overdue.  I have not yet received the CD from the photographer and had a heck of a time figuring out how to post the edited pictures.  Looking at them, I hope you will feel as though you were there with us because many of you were there in my heart.  I thank you for your emails and words of encouragement throughout this last summer and fall.  I really needed to hear what many of you said to me and it has gotten me through this huge change in my life.
This day was so bittersweet as I guess every wedding day is for every mother who has had to let their baby go on and start a new life.  This wedding was a labor or love for my family and all of the friends who came out to help us prepare and set up.  We could not have done any of this without their help and I am happy to share our day with you.

you know, people will always tell mothers how hard it will be to raise children but this day was the hardest part for me.

and now it’s time to be a big girl and be happy for my daughter

Many many thanks to the Shaver Family, friends and family for helping out at our farm the entire week of the wedding.  To our parents who really helped us to make our daughters dream day come true and to everyone who has prayed for us, held us up when we were falling, cry and laughed with out family.  We love you all.
