Oh gosh! How long has it been since I promised to share this pattern?? Too long, I apologize…really. I made this pattern about 5 years ago after falling in love with a knitted apple cozy during the apple cozy craze of 2007. I didn’t know how to knit at the time and had to have one. Then I offered the pattern right before my trip to NYC a few years ago in this blog post and lost the pattern in yet another laptop disaster so I know there are about a dozen people who might still be waiting to receive it.
I’m not sure why I didn’t just post the pattern here. It would have saved it somewhere that can not be lost as easy as in a laptop. It took me a week of looking at my picture and writing and rewriting but I think it looks just like the ones I made the last time. I also like the cotton yarn I am using now instead. Super soft, Picoboo yarn from Frog Tree. I hope you have fun making some (if you fancy apple cozies), they make great little last minute lovelies. You can make one in a lickety split which to me is about 30 minutes.
If you make one, I would love to see it so send me a picture would ya?

I’m so excited about this!!! I recently have been taking apples on our daytrips and my four year old has such trouble eating them because he has no front teeth! I usually cut it up then piece it back together with a rubber band so it won’t brown as fast but this is perfect! Thank you so much!
Thank you! Excited to try this!
These would be PERFECT to give to a teacher.
This is an innocent question but are they just cute or is there a practical reason to use one?
Brigitte, Have you ever put an apple in your bag for a few hours? 🙂 I have and do and without the cozy, they get bruised up and my kids won't eat them. With the cozy, they stay perfect…plus they look cute and isn't that a good enough reason to whip one up haha. JK. No, really, you can keep your apple safe in a lunch box, bag, purse etc.
Thanks. I really like quick crochet projects but needed a little convincing to try this. Now I think I will. They do pack the fancy apples at the store in styrofoam little cozies too I have noticed. I am enjoying your frequent posts! Also was inspired by the house of the second baby shower. I am going to be house hunting soon, or possibly building. Is that a certain design or plan?
Brigitte, The house in the second shower is my daughters mother in law. They have a beautiful home that they had custom built. It reminds me of the historical homes up north 😉
I live in an old town in New Jersey, so that probably explains it. A nice combination of traditional and modern amenities and scale is appealing. Thanks for the responses.
Adorable
I love to crochet and these are just adorable! Thanks for the share.
That is so cute!
I love apple cozies, this was one of the first things i made when I learnt to crochet and I'm still making them now. Great pattern. X
