My body is longing for spring. This new knitted cowl is a result. I looked and looked for a cowl for the girls but then realized I just wanted something quick that could cover their shoulders much like a shawl but quick to make.
This cowl, cowlette or not really even sure what it would be called, (anyone know?) it is made from Cascade Magnum and I just love how fast it comes together. Really, a couple of Downtons and you are done.
I am a crochet designer. I used to make a living at it until I decided to dump Etsy and closed all my stores. My problem is that I am a crochet designer who now loves knitting. I get lots of ideas but when I write them up, they still look like crochet patterns. A dear bloggy friend of mine offered to test the pattern for me for which I am grateful. I would love to share this one with you so if anyone else would like a headache (you will need to supply your own tylenol) please send me a message and I will send you the pattern to try.
We are heading into yet another winter storm, it seems I have said that just about every week huh? Well, the winter blues have not been able to take hold because, well, because of all of you. No, really, it’s true. Your comments and emails, well, they make me smile and it’s hard to be blue when you’re smiling.
Yesterday, I added 3 more bloggers to the Real Food on a Real Budget series. You are going to love them and perhaps I should spill the roster? I’m sure they won’t mind 🙂
In no specific order,
Emily – Front Forty Farm
Melanie – Our Ash Grove
Nicole – Frontier Dreams
Tonya – Natural Earth Farm
Taryn – Wooly Moss Roots
Nissa – At Home with the Gadbois Family
Lisa – Hullabaloo Homestead
Adrie – Fields and Fire
*Edit* I just added another sweet momma to the list,
Stephanie – Gypsy Forest
I’m tellin ya, I usually spend all week waiting for Sunday to come so I can catch Downton but I can’t wait to read what these ladies will be sharing every Friday, right here. Won’t you join us for Real Food on a Real Budget?
Speaking of joining, I am off to see what everyone is up to at Ginny’s Knit along.
are you still open to sharing the pattern for the "cowlette"? I have a daughter who would love one and a couple of sisters of mine who would really enjoy one as well.
Chelsea, I will but I am fixing the pattern right now 🙂
Love the shawl and your sweet daughter. Looking forward to the series.
I look forward to the Real Food on a Real Budget series!!! Is this open to anyone to "link in" or do you select your guest writers?
Each blogger has been selected because of their awareness or commitment to feeding their families real food. Julie, please feel free to leave a link to a post in the comments!! 🙂
I would love to try this pattern out! I was just looking for something similar to try recently for my older girl. She hates coats so this would be perfect for her. If you are still looking for people to test, I would love to do so! Thanks!
I love the cowl/shawl. That doesn't look too intimidating for a beginner like me. Thank you for sharing with us!
Lovely cowl! If you don't have enough people trying the pattern out p;ease let me know my girls would be thrilled to have one of their own 🙂
you got it Meadow 🙂
How much yard did you use? I'm a bit of a nut and was looking at some really pretty yarn already thinking about the cowls, cowlettes, shawlettes….. The unusal showfall outside is making me dream of quick, warm knits.
Meadow, I used this yarn, Magnum Cascade, 123 yrds, 250 grams but did not use the whole skein. http://www.cascadeyarns.com/cascade-magnum.asp. I love it and have to order yarn for my two other girls since I bought this one at Purl Soho on my trip to NYC. It was the last of the yarn I bought there and had not had an idea of what to use it for.
Thanks, I was looking at this yard http://www.yarn.com/webs-new-items/webs-knitting-… trying to see if it woud work. The heather colors are so pretty.
My daughter wants one too! I'll do it if. I can find the right wool over here.
Kara, you just need a really chunky wool! Let me know.
I love this! I have knit many Squishy Loves with horizontal ridges. I think this is a great alternative! Great job!
Thank you Becky.
My oldest granddaughter would love for me to knit one for her. She seems to be out growing her Little House shawl. Thank you for sharing.
Oh that is so pretty! Just enough to keep the shoulders warm. And I like how it is knit in bulky yarn. That will make a project go fast!
It is super fast and so warm!!
that is really lovely. I need a quick project like that as my mystery KAL is nearly killing me!
Tricia,
I'd LOVE to knit up that cowl. Luisa freaked out when she saw it and Anamaria too! Ive been knitting 3 years now and I would love to help out and test a new pattern.
By the way, when did our children start to look so grown up? Amazing!
I know Mimi, I just realized the other day how different our girls look. I would love to see your girls in this cowl, though I'm not so sure this thing is a cowl…
Ok so yeah, not a cowl, maybe a shawlette?
funny, I have been thinking a cowlette?
