Yesterday, it seemed the perfect day to work on the girls room.  The paint has been sitting, waiting since November but there were other rooms that had to be painted and organized first.  It’s not that we are done with the rest of the house by any means but I had ulterior motives you see.  There has also been a pile of vintage bed sheets that I have been itching to get started on turning into quilts for their room.

So, yesterday morning, knowing that there were lots of other projects I probably should give my time to but wanting to start cutting the sheets, I made the girls room a priority.  They picked a light shade of a color that to me looks like a combination of light sky blue with a dash of aqua in it.  Very light of course but very necessary to cover the chocolate brown walls in their bedroom, a nice color for adults but not so much for girls ya know?

So, I got my painting crew together, who are now quite experts at painting and they got to work while I got to cutting.  In just a few hours, the room was covered in a new color with a new lease on life as a girlie girl room as the boys put it.   They painted, cleaned up any drips, put everything away and pulled up all the tape from the baseboards.  They are pretty cool that painting crew of mine and after it was all over, Matthew made himself the owner of a brand new ball made of tape which he has been playing with and will not let us throw away 🙂  Anything that looks like a ball becomes his, oranges, rolled up socks, even potatoes.  He loves balls just like all of my other boys.  They are born with the instinct to kick a ball, they get it from their Poppa.   There is still much to do in the girls newly painted digs but I hope to share the finished room here very soon.

As for the vintage bedsheets, I have been collecting them for a few years now.  I had envisioned quite a few shopping bags, a collection really and there may still be a few of those made but at this moment, it seems they are perfectly destined to cover the beds of my three girls who are all so excited to see what momma does with their room.  I am digging into all my thrifted and antiqued treasures and my collection of spray paint and we shall see what decides it wants to go to that room.

Please remember yesterdays giveaway of the embroidered Valentine,  I am super excited to get started with the “Pinterest Pin-along” party as I still do not know what to call it.  For all of you who asked me to bring back the Stash Bash, consider this the reincarnation of it except you can share anything basically since there is every sort of inspiration to be found over at Pinterest.

So, I am off on a date with a rotary cutter and to see what is going on over at Nicoles.

Love it! What a great idea. I am in the process of making a Lego quilt for my son. Hoping I can get it all done by Sunday and get the house ready for the party. Should probably get off the internet now 😉
