Spring garden pictorial at Moss Flower Farm

I realize that I have been seriously M.I.A. lately.  I have been working over-time on our little farm.  In the last few weeks we have added 2 dozen more fruit trees, 15 more (earlier variety than what we already have) blueberry bushes, added more thornless blackberries,  276 strawberry plants to our strawberry patch and lots more.

Some pictures to share my garden with you.

 Cabbage coming along

Squash
Zukes and cukes
blueberries still in the green stage
first tiny tomatoes of the season

                                                  flowering garlic chives

future basil pesto

sweet sugar cane
Lots more stuff going on in the garden so stay tuned…

Happy Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day I usually take the day to rest (I literally stay in bed all day).  This year I planned ahead what I would do, watch and read.  Just a simple day, resting, eating bon bons (yes really) and reading a great new book on organic gardening while Poppa watches our kiddos. No TV, no need to run and see who is crying or jobs that need doing.
We went to mass early so I could get to bed sooner.  On the drive home, one of my children leaked information about a gift which they had been working on for weeks behind my back.  I guess I have been working so hard on our farm that I provided lots of hours for them to covertly work on this project.
The secret project turned out to be 2 hours of our family’s history on DVD.  Hundreds of pictures in order of the beginning of our family down through each baby set to our favorite songs.  20 seconds into the movie, I lost it and started to ball.  The tears were so thick in my eyes that I could hardly see.
Then it hit me.  The beautiful masterpiece that is my family.  I realized that I am the luckiest mother that ever lived.  I see God’s graces showered upon us and the amazing gift he has given me(which I really don’t deserve).  I realize all the little moments have formed us into the family that we are and each one of my babies which has made me infinitely better a person than before I had them.  I hope with God’s grace to someday become as good a mother as they are children.
Meals are always a big part of our special days.  Today started with a delicious fruit salad topped off with fresh whipped topping.  For lunch I was given a really creamy bowl of cheddar brocoli soup and for dinner,  my favorite cut of meat, a super tender, perfectly cooked Churrasco (flank steak) with mashed potatoes, salad and soup. Poppa planned an amazing meal for me topped of by some wonderful berry wine made in a local winery.
Here are some pics of my three course meal:

Wishing every Mother who has given up their own life, interests, pursuits and dreams to forwards those of their children a most wonderful Mother’s Day surrounded by those who have become their life, interest, pursuits and dreams.
