My first ever knitted socks!! I feel like a Superhero

I am so super excited to share my project with you this week.  For the past year, everytime I see someone complete a pair of socks I thought to myself how I would love to be able to make some too but it looked soooo hard that I did not dare even attempt it.  After making the mittens last week for my little bun in the oven, I decided to just try it.

I am so happy that I tried because I did it!!  This is really big for me and I feel like a super hero!!!  I always feel like I have super powers when I use 4 needles I mean don’t you?  Now I feel like I can maybe do anything!  They did not come out perfect but they will keep my little ones toesies warm and I will remember this feeling everytime I see these little socks on my little one.  Yippee!!!

The one thing I have noticed this week, other than the fact that I am walking pretty slow, can’t really bend down and get back up without help and don’t really want to leave home very much, is that Livie has been sticking pretty close to me lately.  She wants to hug and kiss me all the time and just stays a lot closer than usual.  Can she sense that a new baby is coming soon?  I am enjoying all this extra love from her and realize that she will only be the baby for a few more weeks (I am hoping for at least 3 more weeks) and I hope that I can find a way to give her as much love as I always have.  OK, gotta go because writing this is making me teary.

I am off to see what you other amazing momma’s have come up with over that the Yarn Along.

Quilting and dreaming

The days are going by so so fast and yet some days they seem so long.  With four weeks or so before we meet our precious little one, I am getting the most important projects on my long long list out of the way.

As I mentioned in my weekly update yesterday,  the quilt for the crib is coming along.  This quilt was inspired from that vintage 1940’s rag rug I rescued from an antique store and completed with my own fabrics.  I also pulled out a bag of Poppa’s suit shirts which had become unusable because of backing into something sharp or getting an in stain that would not budge.  I saved these shirts to use the fabric never thinking I would use them in a quilt since I usually turn them into a dress for Olivia or something like that.  I am so pleased to see pieces of Poppa in the fabric of our little ones quilt.  With every square that is cut and joined to other fabrics I am dreaming of the little baby that will for always keep this momma made quilt just as all my other babies have.

I love crib quilts, they are such a fast project and this one is no different.  In just a few more hours I think I could have it done and ready to quilt.  All of the fabrics are from my stash but I am not including them in my Stash Bash Thursday because I have so many projects to share this week and they are all made of stashed materials.  The backing is going to be from a white bed sheet I purchased a while back that was still in the package.  Bed sheets on sale are my favorite way of getting a lot of fabric for a little money.

I can’t wait to see what everyone over at Nicole’s Craft On are doing today.  Go on over and take a look.
