Rewriting the apple cozy

Do you remember this pattern? Well, a few years later I am still getting requests for the pattern. The problem is that a year after I made this offer, the pattern got lost forever in a laptop and has still not been retrieved, sadly. Every time I get a message asking for it, I get that same sad feeling of knowing everything else that was in that laptop which I may never see again.

So, a few days ago I promised a reader that I would redo the pattern and get it to her, yesterday…. I sometimes don’t understand the amount of other things on my plate and don’t project well the amount of time it will take me to get things done. I am almost there though. I took one of the apple cozies I made from my pattern and have slowly redone the pattern. I will share it here so no one has to wait for me to get around to sending them the pattern again.

In the reading corner, I found this little gem which is a reprint of a 1950’s book for little children. Oh, so sweet! Now, Livie has a book to read while we are at mass too. Oh and lest you think that I never get anything fun for myself, I as looking for something at Tuesday Morning a few days ago and I allowed myself to walk through the yarn isle (there was a new shipment of awesome wool yarn goodness there but more on that misadventure later) and I found these books at 80% off which means that I walked out with these two books for less than $4 for both! Be still my heart, I love it when that happens.

Yarning along today again with Ginny! Now I am off to see what everyone else is up to, I also need to organize my bedroom and continue working on projects for Alexandra’s second baby shower this Sunday. Phew!

a suessical baby shower

While I was going through the pictures of last nights baby shower, I noticed that since starting this little blog I have changed the way I take pictures. Before I used to take pictures of the people and places that were in my life but now I concentrate on caprturing little details as well. I will remember the big things but it is the little details that often mean so much but are forgotten. I love that I have this space to chronical our memories and I love even more that I can share our life with all of you.

This baby shower is actually the first of two showers that are happening 7 days apart from each other. This first shower was meant to share with Alex and Lewis’ coworkers. Alexandra had intended on the whole party happening outside in the barn but it was so hot that an hour into the party, all of the icing on the cupcakes completely melted (that is what happens to real icing made from butter and not shortening by the way) and the cake was starting to suffer as well. The people weren’t doing much better and so we moved it inside.

The first shower game was Guess the poopy mess game. We melted four different chocolate bars and smeared them inside diapers. The person to guess all four wins.

Game number two: Guess the book that each character comes from, extra points if you can remember the characters name

Baby bottle race. First person to finish the bottle wins, the person drinking cannot touch the bottle. Lewis cheated by biting a hole in the nipple.

and when most of our guests had left, we remembered the red fish, blue fish jello shots that were in the refrigerator

When the last person left, we collapsed on the couch and everyone ate party leftovers for dinner. Tomorrow, I start preparing for this Sundays baby shower for family and church friends. Another cake to make and more decorations… I will be thinking of baby Lewis the whole time.
